Your CostPlus Advantage CSS fees are based on a “cost-plus” approach which saves you money. CSS charges 5.9% of contractor rate plus any actual employer burden costs (Taxes and Insurance). Cost-plus protects you from paying burdens beyond the required actual cost. The advantage of cost-plus: Typically, states charge 3% to 6% on the first $7,000 to $10,000 of consultant pay for State Unemployment Insurance; some states charge more and some less. Practically all other services maintain the same charge rate to you throughout the engagement, keeping the burden savings as additional profit. CSS clients benefit by receiving the savings when the limits are passed. · 100% of the savings go to you when State Unemployment and Federal Unemployment and FICA limits are reached.
